Beyond Mobility™
Beyond Mobility grows through conversations, mentorship and opportunities to learn from people working in healthcare and research.
These experiences help me connect what I read in research with different perspectives from professionals and real healthcare settings.
University of Miami Biomechanics Lab:
My research is being developed with guidance from Dr. Yusif Gurbanli, PhD, at the University of Miami Biomechanics Lab.
Through this mentorship, I am learning how to review scientific literature, develop a focused research question and understand the different ways researchers measure recovery and quality of life.
This experience has helped me develop my current research on self-efficacy, social support, functional independence and quality of life following hip or knee replacement.
Healthcare conversations:
I also learn through conversations with professionals working in healthcare, including mental health and patient care.
These conversations allow me to ask questions, hear different perspectives and think more deeply about how physical health, emotional well-being, confidence and support can affect people's lives.
Looking ahead:
I hope to continue connecting with researchers, healthcare professionals and organizations whose work relates to recovery, independence and quality of life.
As Beyond Mobility develops, I will use this page to share the people and organizations that contribute to my learning and research.
