About Beyond Mobility
Beyond Mobility started from my interest in understanding what happens to people beyond their physical health.
I became interested in the fact that two people can experience a similar health challenge but respond to it very differently. Physical ability is important, but confidence, emotional well-being, support from others and the ability to remain independent can also affect a person's experience.
Through Beyond Mobility, I want to explore these connections and better understand what helps people maintain independence and quality of life when facing health challenges.
How it started:
My interest developed through experiences in healthcare settings and conversations with healthcare professionals. I started noticing that recovery and well-being could not always be understood only by looking at a person's physical condition.
This led me to ask more questions about confidence, social support, independence and quality of life. I later began researching these ideas more formally with
guidance from a research mentor at the University of Miami Biomechanics Lab.
Beyond Mobility gives me a place to bring these experiences together, continue asking questions and share what I learn.
What I hope to do:
Beyond Mobility is still developing. As I continue learning, I want to use it to share research, observations and conversations related to recovery, independence and well-being.
My goal is not to provide medical advice. It is to better understand the human side of health and recovery and to make what I learn accessible to other people.
