Fear can affect independence

One thing I found interesting is how fear can affect recovery. After a surgery, someone might be physically able to move but still be scared of falling, getting hurt, or feeling pain again.

This can make a person avoid certain activities even when their body is becoming stronger. If they stop trying things, it can also make it harder to become independent again.

This showed me that physical ability and feeling able to do something are not always the same. Understanding fear can be important when trying to understand why some people return to their normal activities faster than others.
